Tarot Circles – Tuesdays, Oct 28 to Nov 11, 1–3pm at qathet Art Centre, 215-6975 Alberni St, Powell River. Weekly creative exploration of Tarot through guided meditation, mythology, and storytelling. Bring your own deck and journal. $5 drop-in.
Light a Candle Exhibition & Candelabra Workshop – Opening Reception Oct 30 at 6pm. Exhibition: Oct 31 & Nov 1 (11am–6pm) and Nov 2 (11am–1pm). Workshop: Oct 31–Nov 2 (10am–1pm). Tidal Art Centre. Day of the Dead-inspired exhibit and hands-on candelabra-making workshop led by ceramic artist Nora Vaillant. Register via claytidal@gmail.com.
Green Burial Community Casket Display – All November at Powell River Public Library. A community-built casket from last year’s festival returns for display, alongside grief and end-of-life resource materials. Includes a free raffle.
Community Ofrenda – Día de los Muertos – Nov 1, 2–6pm at Carlson Community Club. Collective remembrance altar and fundraiser for Four Tides Hospice, hosted by Iguana’s Mexican Grill & Claudia Medina. Bring photos, flowers, or mementos to contribute. (Note: evening Latin Dance event cancelled.)
Exploring Playlists Creative Workshop – Nov 5, 7–8:30pm at qathet Art Centre. Led by Kathy Szajnfeld; participants explore how music can express and heal grief through creating a personal legacy playlist. By donation.
Memento Mori on the Mic – Nov 10, 6:30–8pm (doors 6pm) at qathet Art Centre. Open-mic evening with poetry, storytelling, and reflections on aging, grief, and illness.
Advance Care Planning Workshop – Nov 12, 1–3pm at qathet Art Centre. Hosted by Four Tides Hospice Society. Guided discussion on planning future health care decisions and recording your wishes. Pre-registration required (coordinator@fourtideshospice.org / 604-223-7309).
Walking the Labyrinth: A Path Through Grief – Nov 22, 1–4pm at Sycamore Commons (at St. David’s & St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Townsite). Contemplative gathering and walking meditation for healing and reflection. Hosted by Four Tides Hospice Society. Open to all; refreshments and resources provided.
