When was the moment you became a fan of your favourite musician or band? Was it listening to the radio, reading Rolling Stone or Creem magazine, Spotify, or maybe visiting the local record store? I remember patiently waiting for my brother to leave the house, sneaking into his room and losing myself in Lou Reed’s Transformer, T-rex The Slider, and Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust. Just holding the record cover in my hands, reading the liner notes and studying the artwork was – and still is exciting!
Digging through bins of records is akin to visiting a museum or curated art show with a myriad of styles represented, both visually and aurally!
Approximately 50% of records sold in 2025 were bought by people who don’t even own a turntable, but for their collectability, aesthetic, or decorative purposes.
Fortunately, in qathet we have the Full Bug Record Store and the annual VinylFlip Record Fare on April 5th to help satisfy your need to have and hold physical media the way most artists intended their work to be experienced.
